Cisco 3500 Fan Mod

The new switch is coming along quite nice. Apart from the fact its to noisy! The cisco switch has some wacko blower fan, it works quite fine at 5v and pushes quite a large amount of air at this speed.

I made a simple fan speed reduction circuit using an 7805 to reduce the fan speed from 12v to 5v. I did try look for a 7v or 5v feed from the cisco PCB , but could not find one. I won't bother with a circuit diagram as there is nothing but one 7805, a plug and a heat sink!

Its just stuck to the case with tape, cheep easy and effective.

Much quiter now.
